Ghana qualified for the African Cup of Nations quarter-finals on Tuesday after easing to a 1-0 win over 10-man Burkina Faso on Tuesday. Andre Ayew scored the winner on the half-hour mark, and the Stallions waved goodbye to the biennial competition after failing to reply. Ghana, who are considered to be favorites for the title, went through after securing Group B second place with three points. Ivory Coast have earlier booked their ticket as leaders. Togo had withdrawn from the Nations Cup before its kickoff to leave only three teams in the group. The first half was a dull affair, with both sides modestly attacking. Ayew broke the deadlock with a precise header after connecting with an inch-perfect diagonal cross. Burkina's Yssouf Kone could have brought the score level from close range but missed the target by a mile. Ghana tightened their grip on the game after Mamadou Tall received a red card on 66 minutes for elbowing a challenger in the face. On 76 minutes, Haminu Dramani came close to doubling the Black Stars' lead when he rifled a fierce low shot that went right past the post. Six minutes later, Samuel Inkoom tried his luck from inside the area but he only hit the side-netting.
