Avram Grant's debut as Portsmouth manager was anything but satisfactory as the Premiership strugglers were thrashed 4-1 at home by Manchester United. Wayne Rooney scored a hat-trick for United, including two penalties, and Ryan Giggs celebrated his 100th league goal with a marvelous freekick. Kevin-Prince Boateng scored Pompey's only from the spot as well. Second-placed United remain two points adrift of leaders Chelsea though, with the Blues visiting Arsenal on Sunday. Portsmouth remain rock bottom with seven points from 14 games. Seventh Straight Draw Elsewhere, Manchester City have recorded their seventh straight draw after being held to a 1-1 home draw by lowly Hull City. Shaun Wright-Phillips' fortunate first-half strike was cancelled out by a late Jimmy Bullard penalty for the Tigers. At Boleyn Ground, eight goals were scored as West Ham beat Burnley 5-3 to record their third win of the season.
