Dejan Stankovic scored a remarkable goal as Inter Milan turned on style to thrash Genoa 5-0 and move clear at the top of the Serie A on Saturday. The Serbian midfielder capitalized on a mis-hit clearance from Genoa keeper Marco Amelia to volley the ball in from the halfway line and make it 3-0 just before the break. Esteban Cambiasso put Inter in front after just six minutes via a deflected effort and Mario Balotelli doubled the lead on 31 minutes after a neat pass from Wesley Sneijder. Stankovic further extended the gap with his brilliant strike before veteran midfielder Patrick Vieira put the result beyond doubt in the 66th minute. Right-back Maicon completed the rout five minutes later with a cool finish at the near post. Title holders Inter, who claimed an impressive victory despite missing strike duo Diego Milito and Samuel Eto'o, lie on top of the table with 19 points from eight games. Second-placed Sampdoria can go level on points with the Nerazzurri if they beat Lazio on Sunday.
