Goalkeeper Peter Gulasci has once again inspired Hungary to a shootout victory, giving the Europeans third place in the U-20 World Cup at the expense of Costa Rica. Gulasci saved three penalties for the second time in the tournament to hand his team a 2-0 shootout victory over the CONCACAF surprise package. The match witnessed late drama at Cairo Stadium, with the Costa Ricans almost snatching victory through Marcos Urena's 81st minute strike. However, Hungary, who had over 18 goal attempts, found the net in stoppage time with a penalty from Vladimir Koman. Costa Rica captain Jose Mena was sent off in the process. The game had to be decided on penalties and Costa Rica players failed to convert four spot kicks, with Diego Estrada smashing the first one against the bar. It was then Gulasci's turn to show his class as the Liverpool youngster denied Cristian Gamboa, Esteban Luna and Carlos Hernandez.
