Egypt midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou said that claiming all three points was more important than putting in a good performance against Zambia. The Pharaohs snatched a 1-0 win at Zambia on Saturday in a crucial World Cup qualifier, after producing a stuttering display. Abd-Rabou, who hit the winner with a thunderous shot after 69 minutes, justified Egypt's substandard performance, stressing that only victory matters for the African champions. "The pitch was terrible, the weather was extremely hot and the timing of the game was inappropriate," the Ahli Dubai man stated after the game. "Under this kind of circumstances, the result should be the only concern." Egypt playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika also blamed Egypt's below-par performance on the pitch, which was clearly uneven. "The ground didn't help us produce a satisfying display, but we won the match against all odds," the Ahli superstar said. "I'm still dreaming of reaching the World Cup for the first time in 20 years. Our hopes are still alive." Group C leaders Algeria, who now hold a two-goal advantage over Egypt, can regain their three-point lead on top if they beat Rwanda at home on Sunday. Egypt host Algeria next month in their last group game. Goal difference can eventually play a role in determining the group winners who will book a place in next year's South Africa finals.
