Borussia Dortmund forward Mohamed Zidan explained why he skipped Egypt's friendly against Guinea in August, stressing that he is desperate to make his national team comeback. Speaking for the first time in more than a month, Zidan revealed that his unstable club status forced him into missing the game. The 27-year-old, who broke his engagement with actress Mai Ezzeldin last month, conceded that he couldn't explain his absence to the Egypt staff because of his personal problems. Dortmund Place and Personal Problems "I needed to stay in Germany with my club in time of the Guinea friendly because it was a good chance for me to re-establish my place with the first team," he told Modern Sport TV. "When the season started I was away on international duty and had to join my club late for pre-season, so I felt that the coach wasn't happy. "I explained all that to Shawki Gharib (Egypt assistant coach) and made it clear that I wanted to skip the Guinea game. "Gharib was convinced and told me he will discuss the matter with coach Hassan Shehata and then reply to me.
Zidan and Shehata "I admit that officials from Egypt tried to contact me several times but I switched my phone off because I had serious personal problems and was under severe pressure." Walking to Egypt Zidan's actions triggered a furious response in Egypt, especially that he was fit to play for Dortmund against Hamburg three days after the Guinea match. The skilful striker was subsequently ruled out by Shehata until further notice, even so he can't wait to make his Egypt return in the near future. "I have just learned that I am not included in the Zambia game and I am deeply sad because of that," he added. "It's an honor playing for the national team and I am really desperate for a recall. "I will be the first player to show up if the coach decided to recall me, even if I had to travel to Egypt walking."
