Ivory Coast virtually reached the 2010 World Cup after thumping Burkina Faso 5-0 at home on Saturday. The hosts went to the locker room with a one-goal lead, thanks to Abdul Kader Keita's strike. They opened the floodgates in the second period as Keita scored his second of the night, Didier Drogba scored twice and Yaya Toure also found the net. Ivory Coast, whose first appearance in the World Cup came in the previous tournament in 2006, are on top of Group E with 12 points, six ahead of second-placed Burkina Faso with two games remaining. Ivory Coast possess a goal difference of plus-12 against Burkina Faso's negative-3, making it highly unlikely for the latter to cause a major surprise. Only the group winners will qualify for next year's South Africa finals.
