Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce said he was confident Amr Zaki would rediscover his best form once winter is over. "I have always said we might see the return of Zaki to his best when the sun shines and the daffodils come out," Bruce told the Evening Post on Wednesday. The Egypt striker, who joined Wigan on a season-long loan from Cairo giants Zamalek last summer, made an impressive start to his English adventure. He scored ten goals in the first half of the season to become the Latics' top scorer but suffered a dip in form afterwards. Although he had a spell with Lokomotiv Moscow in freezing conditions three years ago, Zaki apparently failed to cope with England's winter weather. "He found it difficult to settle during the winter for one reason or another," Bruce added. Training Well Zaki is expected to play in Wigan's Premier League game against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday for the first time since getting over his dispute with the club. The 26-year-old, who was nursing a hamstring complaint recently, was fined four weeks' wages after returning late from international duty earlier this month. "Zaki is back training, and I've got to say, training very well," Bruce stated. "A scan showed his hamstring is okay now and his fitness is good. If I need to pick Zaki and have him involved (against Blackburn), I will do so." The former ENPPI man, who is likely to partner his compatriot Mido upfront, hasn't found the net since converting a penalty against Bolton Wanderers last December.
