Ahli playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika is set to be sidelined for up to four weeks, after picking up an ankle injury against Petrojet on Sunday. The 30-year-old had to be stretchered off during the game's first-half after a fierce challenge by Hassan Konde, and further scans on Monday confirmed that he is suffering from a sprained ankle. Ahli's official website stated that the Egyptian international has started a rehabilitation program and will be out for between three and four weeks. Abou-Treika is enduring an unlucky season, as he already missed a number of crucial games with Ahli due to successive injuries. The former Tersana man recently returned from a trip in Portugal and Germany, where he received medical treatments on a knee injury. Individuals
Al-Badri annoyed Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri expressed his annoyance over Abou-Treika's injury as he accused some players of deliberately trying to injure the Egypt international. Petrojet defender Konde came no way near the ball and was lucky to get away with a caution. "I feel that Abou-Treika has been subjected to numerous challenges as though some individuals are trying to hurt him," Al-Badri said after the game. "His absence could be crucial to the Egyptian national side." Abou-Treika is slightly doubtful for Egypt's World Cup qualifiers final phase opener with Zambia next month.
