Egypt striker Mido was injured as Wigan played out a goalless draw with Fulham at the JJB Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday. Wigan's third successive draw leaves them in seventh place of the table with 34 points, four ahead of 10th-placed Fulham. Mido was included in Wigan's starting line-up while his compatriot Amr Zaki, who has just returned from injury, sat on the bench. On loan striker Mido, who joined from Middlesbrough last month, had two chances to open the scoring in the first half. On the quarter-hour mark, he chested down Hugo Rodallega's flick inside the area before powering a low shot that was blocked by Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer. Ten minutes later, Mido squandered a golden opportunity to put his side ahead. He was picked out unmarked by Maynor Figueroa's left-wing cross but his free header missed the target.
Zaki was introduced Mido's injury problems came back to haunt him as he was replaced few minutes before the break, making way for Zaki. The 25-year-old is now likely to miss Egypt's friendly game against Ghana on Wednesday. Wigan coach Seve Bruce was also forced to substitute Antonio Valencia and Michael Brown in the first half after they were injured. Combative frontman Zaki unsettled John Paintsil down the left flank but barely threatened Schwarzer. In the 47th minute, Zaki got the better of the Ghanaian but his mis-hit cross struck the outside of the post and went out for a goal kick. He tried his luck from distance on 60 minutes but his shot was easily handled by Schwarzer. Zaki, who notched 10 league goals so far, hasn't found the net since scoring in Wigan's 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers on December 28th.
