Arsenal kept their title hopes alive by clinching a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday. The match remained goalless till Nicklas Bendtner broke the deadlock on 84 minutes by netting the winner. On registering a victory, the Gunners amassed 38 points to level with fourth-placed Manchester United, who face Chelsea on Sunday. Home side Arsenal piled up pressure upfront right from the start, while Bolton were adopting a defensive playing style. Robin Van Persie got the first clear-cut opportunity two minutes from the quarter hour mark when Samir Nasri's cross-shot deflected into his pass, but the Dutchman couldn't divert it into the net. Van Persie had several other chances later on, but to no avail. Arsene Wenger's men kept the upper hand throughout the first half, and yet, couldn't translate their domination into goals. The visitors had the best period of ball possession 15 minutes from the interval, but couldn't pose any real threat on Arsenal. After restart the hosts tried to tighten their grip on the game by increasing their attacking efforts. Arsenal had several other chances, but Bolton managed to maintain their backline solidarity for quite a while. Eventually, Bendtner fired his side ahead six minutes from the final whistle when he volleyed Van Persie's deft assist.
