Bayern Munich hitman Luca Toni has been ruled of Saturday's Bundesliga encounter against Wolfsburg with an aggravated ribs injury, the Bavarians announced on their website on Friday. The tall striker got his ribs bruised in the 1-0 away victory over Karlsruher SC in the German league, and suffered a relapse when he took part in the 3-0 Champions League win over Fiorentina. The Italian international played till the 57th minute, then made way for Lukas Podolski. "I played until the pain became unbearable," he told the German club official website after Fiorentina game.
Toni haunted by ribs injury "It was the right call to make way for a player in better shape than myself," The German Champions already have a good number of key figures on the sidelines. Philipp Lahm is out for four weeks with a tarsal bone fracture, Hamit Altintop hasn't finished his post-surgery rehabilitation program yet and Willy Sagnol is unavailable through an Achilles problem. On the bright side, Christian Lell is back to action after recuperating from hamstring strain.
