David Villa scored a second-half brace helping Valencia thrash Deportivo La Coruna 4-2 on Sunday at the Mestalla and go clear on top of the Spanish table. Los Che are now on top of La Liga with 13 points just like Villarreal. Valencia had a good start of the game and seemed close from scoring but bizarrely they conceded first. Deportivo's Pablo Alvarez sent a low shot and defender Emiliano Moretti converted it into his own net in the 11th minute. The hosts found again their composure and Juan Mata leveled the score from close range in the 36th minute. Going four minutes into the second half, David Villa put Valencia in front to convert his side's domination. Joaquin made it 3-1 after a fine combination with Villa and Mata to secure the victory. Villa bagged the fourth goal and his personal sixth this season to go clear on top of La Liga scorers' chart with 6 goals. Angel Lafita pulled once back from close range in the 85th minute but that was not enough to get any points out of this game.
