Mido is on the verge of completing a switch to Wigan Athletic before the closure of the transfer window on Sunday, FilGoal.com has learned. Wigan made an official offer on Thursday to sign the Middlesbrough striker on loan or on a permanent basis. The Egyptian striker has already revealed his desire to leave the Riverside as he is looking to secure regular football. Boro manager Gareth Southgate seems to be relying on Tuncay Sanli and Brazilian Afonso Alves in the front line. Mido, 25, made an impressive start to the new season. He scored three goals in as many games but that wasn't enough to ensure him of a regular spot in Southgate's team. Wigan boss Steve Bruce has called Mido and told him that he will get regular football at the Latics as he will partner his fellow countryman Amr Zaki upfront. The deal should be completed in the next couple of days.
