Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso admitted that he is a few steps away from joining Juventus this summer. "I know there has already been contact with Liverpool and my agent too," the Spaniard told La Gazzetta Dello Sport. Alonso moved to Liverpool in 2004 coming from Real Sociedad and has been heavily linked with a summer move to Turin. "I know the Bianconeri follow me. I can say that I am really proud to be linked with a strong and historical side like Juventus," added the Spain international. The 26-year old forward also revealed his admiration for the players who remained with the Old Lady after last year's match-fixing scandal and helped the team get back to the Serie A. "I know what happened at Juve. For this reason I have big respect for Del Piero, Buffon, Nedved and Trezeguet - big champions who had the courage to play in Serie B. "This is something I like a lot. After four years in La Liga and four years in England, playing in Italy would be like completing my career," concluded Alonso.
