Brazilian playmaker Kaka was named the FIFA Player of the Year 2007 on Monday, beating Argentinean Lionnel Messi and Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo. The AC Milan midfielder dominated the poll with 1,047 votes ahead of Messi (504) and Ronaldo (426), in the vote made by the National Team coaches and Captains. He became the fifth Brazilian to win the award after Romario (1994), Ronaldo (1996, 1997, 2002), Rivaldo (1999) and Ronaldinho (2004, 2005). "Tonight is really special for me, When I was young, I dreamed of playing for Sao Paulo and playing just one game for the national team," Kaka said. "That was it, but the Bible says God gives us more than we ask more and that is what has happened in my life." Kaka won the Ballon d'Or given by France Football just a few days ago after an impressive season with AC Milan. The 25-year-old playmaker helped the Italian giants to their seventh European Cup title and the Club World Cup title. He was instrumental for Milan and won the Best player award and the Golden boot in the UEFA Champions League and was named the Best player of the Club World Cup.
