Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez was very angered by his team's lackluster performance in their 1-1 Champions league first round tie against Porto on Tuesday night. “We were really very bad in that first half, there are no excuses. We gave the ball away too easily and made too many mistakes,” said the Spaniard after the game. Luis Gonzales opened the scoring for Porto and then Dirk Kuyt got the equalizer to snatch Liverpool a very precious point out of this encounter. “But the second half was much better. Unfortunately Jermaine Pennant was sent off and we couldn't go further,” added Benitez. The Reds coach was about to replace him seeing he was going more often for sliding tackles but he was a bit late as got his second booking after a harsh tackle on Fucile.
