Zamalek club have asked former striker Ayman Mansour to join the football team's coaching staff, but the position he is being offered seems undetermined. Zamalek spokesman Khaled Gabr announced on Monday that assistant coach Mahmoud Saad has been sacked and that trainer Moetamed Gamal will be promoted in his place. Gabr also said that Mansour will join the staff in the capacity of team supervisor. However, Mansour told FilGoal.com early on Tuesday that he has been offered the position of the axed Saad. “Zamalek club president (Mamdouh Abbas) who offered me the post of assistant coach, which has nothing to do with the administrative matters,” Mansour told FilGoal.com. “The team already has Amr Aboul-Ezz in the capacity of technical director and Ahmed Abdullah, who handles players' affairs.
Saad “I was told my job would only be assisting head coach Henri Michel,” added Mansour. But Gabr insisted Mansour role was administrative. “Mr. Abbas has appointed Mansour as team supervisor,” Gabr told FilGoal.com on Tuesday morning. “He will handle the administrative and organizational matters only, nothing to do with the technical matters.” “We are happy with Gamal assisting Michel for the time being, and Saad's post will remain vacant until the end of the season,” he added. Gabr concluded that if Michel decides he needs an assistant, someone other than Mansour will be brought in to fill the position.
