Ahmed Mostafa notched home in the second-half as Egypt registered a 1-0 winning start over Cameroon in the African Youth Championship on Sunday. The ENPPI striker scored the winner two minutes past the hour mark with a brilliant solo effort to help Egypt overcome the difficulty of playing in a muddy pitch. Egypt are in second place of Group B with three points, level with leaders Nigeria who have a one-goal advantage after beating Zambia 4-2 earlier on Sunday. The game was staged on a poor pitch that its artificial turf turned into swamps, making skills like passing and dribbling mission impossible. Egypt played the first-half with a defensive approach and tried to hit on the break but failed to create any scoring opportunities. Cameroon could have opened the score line when Egypt keeper Mohamed Al-Shinawy failed to handle a corner-kick only for the ball to fall into the path of a Cameroonian forward who failed to convert the ball home. But Mostafa snatched the victory in the 62nd minute after he superbly controlled a long ball, danced his way through Cameroon's area and side-stepped his marker before hitting a low right-footer into the back of the net. Egypt then blocked Cameroon's attempts to level the score and held on to their lead until the referee blew his whistle.
