Egypt's three representatives in the Arab Champions League have booked their places in the second round of the competition on Sunday. Cairo powerhouse Zamalek snatched a hard-fought 2-2 away draw against OS Meknes of Morocco to advance to the second round with a 3-2 aggregate result. Mostapha Namo put the home side ahead in the 34th minute before Amr Al-Safti equalized for Zamalek in the 58th minute. Gamal Hamza silenced the home crowd with a second goal in the 72nd minute but Founessay Kamissoko canceled out his effort six minutes later.
Ismaili players celebrating In Damascus, ENPPI registered a 1-0 win over Al-Gaish of Syria, courtesy of an Ahmed Abdul-Zaher goal, and grabbed their second round berth with a 4-1 aggregate win. Ismaili also advanced to the round of 16 after beating Arbil of Iraq 4-2 in Aleppo, Syria. Abdullah Saied, Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Mohsen Abou-Greisha and Ahmed Al-Gamal scored for Ismaili while Haitham Kazem and Wissam Zaki scored for Arbil.
