Real Madrid new striker Ruud van Nistelrooy said he is unhappy with the way his relationship with Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson ended. " The relationship with the manager had ended and this was painful for me because I owe him a lot," Spanish papers quoted Van Nistelrooy as saying in a press conference on Saturday. The Dutch striker ended his five-year association with United after joining Real on a three-year contract for a reported fee of 15 million Euros ($19.12 million). Van Nistelrooy's move was fueled by several bust-ups with the veteran Scott coach in the second half of the last season. The 30-year-old was left out of the side for the League Cup final and the rift between the striker and the manager escalated when Van Nistelrooy stomped off the grounds before United's final game of the season. Although Ferguson was the main factor behind Van Nistelrooy's exit, the former PSV Eindhoven striker paid tribute to him for his support. "He waited for me during my injury and allowed me to play at the highest level," he said. "I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to the manager yesterday because when I left the training ground in Manchester yesterday afternoon, the deal had not yet been completed but I'm sure I'll meet him again."
