Le club espagnol de la FC Barcelone a officiellement annoncé le recrutement du défenseur français Lilian Thuram (34 ans) et du latéral italien Gianluigi Zambrotta (29 ans) en provenance de la Juventus. Le montant de l'affaire a été de 30 millions de dollars dont 23,7 pour Zambrotta. Ce dernier a signé un contrat de quatre saisons tandis que Thuram ne sera engagé que pour deux saisons seulement. Ce duo a présenté une excellente performance lors du mondial et ont été inclus dans l'équipe type de la compétition. Il est à noter que Juventus a perdu jusqu'à présent quatre joueurs après le départ d'Emerson et Fabio Cannavaro pour la Real Madrid.
