Real Madrid new coach Fabio Capello said that the players must regain their spirit in order to bring back success to the club, Spanish daily Marca reported on Thursday. "We have to win trophies and to do that we have to work hard, be humble and rediscover the spirit of Real Madrid,” Capello told a press conference. “I'm really looking forward to working with this club. I'm convinced this is the most important club in the world,” he added. Capello has signed a three-year contract with Real Madrid, following a successful spell with Italian giants Juventus where he won two successive league titles. On the other hand, Real Madrid newly-elected president Ramon Calderon assured the Italian tactician that he will have all the freedom in his work. "Capello and (sporting director Predrag) Mijatovic will work together without any interference from me or the rest of the board," he said. Calderon expressed his confidence in Capello's abilities to bring trophies back to the Santiago Bernabeu, like he did during his previous spell with the Spanish giants. "The 1996-97 season when he took over a team in crisis is fixed in my memory. He took over a team that came sixth in the league and led it to the championship. He also laid the foundations for the team that won the European Cup in 1998,” he said. "He is here to restore the self-esteem of the players, to instill order and discipline and give them necessary affection too. It is a difficult task but he is a master of this art,” he added. Real Madrid are looking to make up for previous disappointments after they endured three seasons trophy-less.
