Premiership side Blackburn Rovers are in talks with AS Roma to sign Egyptian striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido', Football Italia reported. "Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has returned to the negotiating table for Roma striker Mido after Craig Bellamy's move to Liverpool was completed," the Italian magazine said in an unsourced report published Friday. Mido spent last season on loan to Tottenham Hotspur but manager Martin Jol didn't offer the 23-year-old a permanent move due to his repeated injuries and weight problems. Blackburn were reportedly interested in Mido and the departure of Bellamy paved the way for the former Zamalek man to remain in the Premiership. "Roma are keen to offload the former Marseille hitman from their wage bill and could accept as little as £3m," the report added. Mido scored 11 goals with Tottenham last season, leading the White Hart Lane side to the Premiership's fifth spot and securing a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
