Le technicien allemand Winfried Schaefer s'apprête à prendre la charge technique de la sélection du Togo et ceci en succession à son compatriote Otto Pfister qui a présenté sa démission le vendredi soir. L'ancien sélectionneur du Cameroun s'est réunit avec les dirigeants togolais et a annoncé qu'ils ont trouvé un accord mais qu'il a mis une seul condition avant de prendre les rennes c'est que le problème des primes soit résolu. En effet c'est la raison pour laquelle Pfister avait démissionné. Les joueurs réclament une prime de 155 000 euros pour s'être qualifiés aux mondial en plus de 30 000 euros pour chaque victoire et 15 000 euros pour chaque match nul. Mais la Fédération togolaise voit que ces demandes sont trop exagérées.
