England duo Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney participated briefly in the England training on Friday despite suffering different injuries that could rule them out of their team's opening game, BBC reported on Friday. Gerrard suffers from a back injury and said earlier that he has a 50-50 chance in starting England's opener against Paraguay on Saturday. However, the Liverpool skipper started Friday's training with the rest of the team and did some jogging before separately resuming running and treatment with the team's physic. Striker Rooney, who made the trip to Germany after his quick recovery from a broken bone he sustained on April, took full part in the training session. The Manchester United striker looked confident and in good shape but it's yet to be known whether coach Sven-Goran Eriksson will name him in any of England's first round games or not.
