Egyptian champions Ahli booked their place in the African Champions League quarter-finals after thrashing Equatorial Guinea side Renacimiento 4-0 at home in the return-leg of the competition's round of 16 on Saturday. Emad Meteb netted twice in the first half, Emad Al-Nahhas and Mohamed Abou-Treika were also on the score sheet to help Ahli progress to the group stage. The Egyptian powerhouse advanced with a 4-0 aggregate score, as the first-leg ended in a goalless draw. Al-Nahhas broke the deadlock in the 18th minute after he received Mohamed Shawki's header on the edge of the area before curling a low-shot past Renacimiento keeper. Meteb extended the lead seven minutes later when he connected with Mohamed Abdul-Wahab's inch-perfect cross to head home. Egyptian international Abou-Treika, who has just returned from injury, widened the gap in the 39th minute after he brilliantly rounded a Renacimiento defender inside the area before sending a powerful shot into the roof of the net. Meteb completed the rout in the first half's stoppage time when Abou-Treika released Islam Al-Shater on the right flank before sending a back pass inside the area to Meteb who fired the ball into the back of the net.
