La Fédération Egyptienne de Football (FEF) a annoncé qu'elle a renoncé au match amical contre l'Espagne prévu au 3 juin prochain en raison du calendrier local surchargé. Le porte parole de la FEF, Medhat Chalabi, a annoncé la nouvelle au correspondant de filgoal.com et a dit que la décision a été prise lors de la réunion du conseil d'administration qui a eu lieu dans la nuit du dimanche. En effet les phases finales de la Coupe d'Egypte se joueront en juin. Les matchs de demi-finales se joueront le 5 et 8 juin et la finale aura lieu le 12 et ainsi il n'y aura pas d'espaces pour le regroupement de la sélection. La Fédération d'Espagne avait déjà annoncé qu'elle avait trouvé un accord avec son homologue égyptienne pour jouer un match amical le 3 juin soit à une semaine du début du mondial 2006.
