Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' slotted home and compounded with Robbie Keane twice to give Tottenham Hotspurs a dramatic 3-2 victory over Blackburn Rovers in the Premiership on Sunday. Keane handed Tottenham a two-goal lead but efforts from Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Craig Bellamy put the visitors level before the Egyptian striker secured the three points. The hard-fought victory reinforced the Spurs position in fourth spot on 49 points, leading fifth-place Arsenal with five points. Blackburn Rovers, who also fight for the last Champions League berth, were left sixth with 43 points. Keane opened the score line in the ninth minute when he received Mido's throw-in and produced a brilliant solo effort to give Tottenham the lead. The Irish striker, with his back to the goal, chipped the ball over his marker and spin to round another defender before slamming the ball past goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
In the 42nd minute, Mido stepped up to unleash a stinging free-kick which the helpless Friedel could only parry into Keane's path who sent an easy tap-in. Sinama-Pongolle pulled one back just one minute from the break as he powered a brilliant diving header home after connecting with Bellamy's neat cross. Sinama-Pongolle turned provider when he scuffed Ledley King's weak header and crossed to Bellamy who volleyed the ball past Spurs and England keeper Paul Robinson. Three minutes later, Aaron Lennon raced down the right and fed the anticipating Mido whose slight touch was enough to send the ball in. In another match, Georgios Samaras notched a brace to lead Manchester City to a 2-1 win over struggling Sunderland. Kevin Kyle scored the consolation goal for the visitors.
