Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri said that their African Super Cup victory made Egypt the first country to win all the major continental titles and competitions in one year. The Egyptian powerhouse edged Moroccan club ASFAR to win the Super Cup after a 4-2 shootout on Friday. “Ahli's latest victory sets a new record for Egypt after winning the African Cup of Nations (ACN), African Champions League and the Super Cup, a feat unaccomplished by any other African country,” Al-Badri told Arab Radio and Television (ART) network after the match. Asked about Ahli's fluctuating performance against ASFAR on Friday, Al-Badri said: “It was a hard match for both sides, and taking the game all the way to the shootout only indicates that it was a strong match and the Moroccan club were strong opponents.” The assistant coach insisted that he didn't want to reveal the difficulties facing the team before the match and said that he feared the impact of the absence of a host of key-players through injury and fatigue from the starting line-up. Al-Badri concluded by saying that the coaching staff replaced Mohamed Abdul-Wahab by Haitham Al-Fizani to tighten their grip on the midfield.
