Tottenham Hotspur striker Ahmed Hossam “Mido” apologized publicly to head coach Hassan Shehata on Thursday for his touchline row in Egypt's African Cup of Nations (ACN) semi-final on Tuesday. Mido returned to the team's training camp and apologized “whole-heartedly” to Shehata, who accepted the apology before a teary reconcilement, an informed source told Filgoal.com. Mido's rage against Shehata for replacing him with Enppi top-scorer Amr Zaki in the second-half saw him receive a six-months ban by the Egyptian Football Federation (EFA). On the other hand. Zaki went on to score Egypt's winner against Senegal and booked his side's spot in Friday's African Cup final against Ivory Coast. The Egyptian team players urged Shehata to get Mido back in the starting line-up for their highly-anticipated final, but the Egypt boss insisted that the decision now was up to the Egyptian FA, the source added. The players also asked Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak's son, Gamal Mubarak to intervene with the predicament and try to get Mido back in the squad for the final.
