UNFORTUNATELY, it's only one day on which we wish our moms: a Happy Mother's Day. Even even if we kept saying the same phrase everyday all over the year, this wouldn't give mom her due. Egypt first celebrated Mother's Day in 1956 after twin journalists Ali and Moustafa Amin, the founders of Al-Akhbar press instiutiuon, called for dedicating a day for honouring mothers. Let me refer to the legendary British playwright William Shakespeare when he was quoted as saying: "Nothing in this whole world is more soothing and comforting than mother's hug." Inventor Thomas Edison once said: "It's my mother who made me, for she respected me and trusted me; she even made me feel being important. So my existence has become something crucial for her and I take an oath not to let her down as she never did." A mother is like a school, if it's good, the children will be good, as the Egyptian Poet Laureate Ahmed Shawqi said. Still you can say much more and better than these words of writers and poets. You can tell her Happy Mother's Day and say it from the bottom of your heart, which should be full of love and obedience towards her so that she can feel the beauty of your words. If any person in this world has achieved success, this success is not his alone. It is because he has a great devoting, loving mother who took care of him, taught and supported him. Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish author and poet noted for his children's stories. He reached this status through his mother who used to narrate stories to him and buy him books; she even encouraged him to imagine and write down all his imagination till he became one of the leading writers worldwide. As we now enjoy reading his marvellous works, which include "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", "The Snow Queen", "The Little Mermaid", "Thumbelina", "The Little Match Girl", and the "The Ugly Duckling". Also, when a man carried his helpless mother over his back to help her circumambulating the Kaaba, he asked the Prophet Mohamed: Did I do my best towards my mother? The Prophet Mohamed replied: "Not a moment of her labour pain." In the holy book; the Qura'n, Muslims are urged to treat their parents …quot; mother and father …quot; in a good manner and to show obedience to them. We should behave in good manner towards our mothers and express to them how much we love them but through deeds not only words; for they deserve "Happy Mother's Day" the whole year.
