WE are already well into the second half of the Egyptian First Division football league season and the competition between the clubs is fierce. The start of the second half of the season coincided with the end of the mid-year school break. In the first half of the school year, there was a lot of absenteeism because of the swine flu. The exams were easy, but this only weakens schoolchildren's ability to understand their lessons and it's therefore not in their best interests. We are now in the second half of the school year and the pupils must work hard to achieve a high score, just like Egypt's national football team. That's why the Pharaohs recently won the African Cup of Nations for a record third time in a row and the seventh time in total. I am sure that my friends will achieve high scores, just like the Egyptian national team. It wasn't easy for their Pharaohs, who had to deprive themselves of many things, in order to achieve their target. You, too, have to make sacrifices, in order to learn your lessons and do well in your exams. When you're successful and become a great doctor or engineer, your parents and your country will be proud of you. Western scientists confirm that Egyptians have genius in their genes, inherited from the Pharaohs. The whole world admires the Egyptian for building the Pyramids and temples like Abu Simbel. You, my friends, can be just as successful or even more so. Abdel-Fattah is an Egyptian writer for children [email protected]
