The number mobile phone subscribers in Egypt rose to 55.35 million in December from 53.68 million in November, a government website said on Wednesday. Some 1.67 million subscribers were added in December, up from 700,000 in November, the government-run Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Centre said on its website (www.eip.gov.eg). A year ago, the three Egyptian mobile companies, Mobinil, Vodafone and Etisalat, had 37.626 million subscribers in Egypt, which has a population of about 78 million.
