CAIRO - Ahli snatched a dramatic 2-1 win over Mazembe in the Champions League, thanks to an injury-time goal by substitute Geddo. Emad Meteb scored the only goal of the first half after 12 minutes as substitute Mbwana Samata grabbed the equalizer for Mazembe four minutes from time. But Geddo evoked memories of his historic CAN 2010 campaign when he came off the bench to snatch the points for the Reds with a clinical finish in stoppage time. Ahli share top spot in Group B with Berekum Chelsea, who beat Zamalek 3-2 on Saturday. The Reds remain unbeaten in three games against four-time champs Mazembe, who are still looking for their first win against an Egyptian club in seven meetings. Freekick contest and late drama Ahli were off to the start Hossam Al-Badri was looking for as Meteb found the net with a low shot on 12 minutes, following a quick counter move involving Mohamed Abou-Treika and Walid Soliman. Abou-Treika and Meteb then missed two good chances to double the lead while Mazembe remained quiet until the 45th minute when Patrick Ilongo's freekick was parried by Sherif Ekrami. Ten minutes after the break, the Ravens got even closer when Eric Nkulukuta fired an unstoppable freekick that rattled the crossbar of the well-beaten Ekrami. Ahli replied instantly with Abou-Treika hitting a powerful freekick that was poked away by Robert Kidiaba, who even made a better save to deny another set piece from Sherif Abdul-Fadil. The late drama started when Mazembe defender Joel Kimwaki was shown a straight red only for the Congolese giants to level as Samata beat Abdul-Fadil in the air to head home past Ekrami, who should have done a lot better with the tame header.
