CAIRO " Prime Minister-designate Essam Sharaf has appointed a new interior minister in an apparent bid to win public confidence by removing all officials suspected of liks to the regime of the ousted president Hosni Mubarak. Sharaf named General Mansour el-Essawi, an ex-chief of Cairo Security Department, to the post on Sunday according to a post on the Facebook page of the prime minister's office.
