CAIRO - A senior US government official arrived in Egypt on Monday for talks with the army-led interim government and representatives of civil society, the US embassy said. "The United States Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs William J. Burns has arrived in Cairo," the embassy said. It was the first visit to Cairo by a high-level US diplomat since the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak, a staunch American ally, in a popular revolt.
