CAIRO - Thousands of opponents to President Hosni Mubarak are Friday bracing for a massive protest to press for his immediate departure. Gathering Al Tharir Square in central Cairo, the protesters have labelled the imminent demonstration as Friday of Departure. Mubarak, who has been in power for nearly 30 years, has said he would nor seek a new term when his current tenure ends next September. But anti-regime protesters demand his immediate departure. Al Tahrir Square, where running clashes erupted between Mubarak's supporters and opponents on Wednesday, looks tense as the Army encircles the protesters. Egyptian officials have pledged not to use violence against protesters.
