WhatsApp bringing new feature to Android phones
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 15 - 09 - 2018

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 15, 2018 (News Wires) - WhatsApp has released a 2.18.282 Beta version for Android users, which doesn't have any features to the public, but the Facebook-owned company has started its work on one of the much-awaited ‘Swipe to Reply‘ feature.
WhatsApp watcher, WABetaInfo has posted this info stating the feature will be available in the future.
WhatsApp iOS users have been enjoying the Swipe to Reply feature for a long time, but Android users have been left out due to some unknown reasons. But finally, WhatsApp has started its development on Swipe to Reply functionality, which will enhance the user experience on Android.
WhatsApp pushes a plethora of beta updates every week and the latest one's v2.18.282. While the update doesn't carry along new features, it must've fixed some bugs which existed in the previous version.
But internally, WhatsApp has begun its development on Swipe to Reply feature. It's been a while since we last saw some major feature being implemented on Android. WhatsApp is currently busy in closely working with the Indian government to reduce the spam spreading on the portal.
The last major feature introduced by WhatsApp for Android was the Picture-in-Picture mode, which was rolled out back at the start of August.
First of all, the Swipe to Reply feature on Android is still under development and it not available for any WhatsApp Android user at the moment. Functionality wise, a user can reply to a particular message by just swiping on it.
For the unaware, WhatsApp has a special feature which allows users to reply to a specific message and the Swipe to Reply feature makes it easier for users in responding to a particular message.
One of the most requested features from WhatsApp users is Dark Mode. However, WhatsApp has been silent on this feature's availability for both Android, iOS and Windows Phone. Now, WABetaInfo has posted a tweet stating that WhatsApp has finally started working on a Dark Mode for both iOS and Android. But it seems like there are not many references related to the feature at the moment.
Dark Mode is already present on other social media platforms like Telegram, Twitter and so on. So, it's overdue from WhatsApp. Nevertheless, WhatsApp has started working on the feature, but it'll be interesting to see when the feature will be rolled out to the public.
