Published in Daily News Egypt on 05 - 06 - 2007

CAIRO: Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, who arrived Monday night in Cairo on a two-day visit, will hold talks with a number of officials in Egypt, embassy sources said.
Bildt is to meet Tuesday with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, Intelligence Chief Omar Suleiman, and Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit.
After the meeting between Bildt and Abul Gheit at the Diplomatic Institute Building Downtown on Tuesday, the two foreign ministers will hold a press conference at
1:45 pm local time, the sources added.
According to the Middle East News Agency, the issues on the agenda of the talks are the developments in the Middle East and bilateral relations.
The visit follows the Swedish government s recent decisions to revoke the extradition of Egyptian citizens Ahmed Agiza and Mohamed Al-Zery, who were deported to Egypt with the help of the US secret service back in 2001.
The asylum-seeker Al-Zery is reportedly free and lives in his village while Agiza is now serving a 15-year prison sentence in Tora prison for having connections with the Islamic Jihad and Al-Qaeda. Agiza s wife and children live in Sweden.
