Sana'a (dpa) – Yemeni president Abd Rabu Mansour Hadi visited Saudi Arabia Monday to thrash out common issues of interest to the neighboring countries. Hadi met with Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud over the ongoing situation in Yemen as well as future bilateral cooperation, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Hadi's visit to Saudi is his first out-of-country official tour as president since he came to power under an internationally-brokered deal backed by the United States, the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council signed in November in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Under the agreement, former president Ali Abdullah Saleh was to end his 33 years in power. Hadi, who was Saleh's deputy, was elected president in February. But Hadi is facing real problems to reshuffle the military and security institutions in Yemen, of which a significant part is run by Saleh's family members. A long-time source of aid for impoverished Yemen, Saudi Arabia said Monday it would grant Yemen aid to cover its oil needs for two months, the Yemen news agency reported.
