ISTANBUL (dpa): Turkey has issued a warning to its nationals in Syria to leave the country due to the increasingly serious security situation, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday. “Due to the serious security risks in certain Syrian cities it is strongly recommended that Turkish citizens residing in Syria return home,” a statement said. The statement warned strongly against the use of “motorways” for travelling in Syria. In addition it said the Turkish embassy in Damascus would stop offering consular services as of 5 pm (1500 GMT) on March 22. Consular services would continue to be offered in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, the statement said.
