CAIRO: Egyptian security officials are reporting on Friday early evening that three Korean nationals have been kidnapped in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula by armed Bedouin tribesmen. The three tourists had been traveling with their Egyptian guide when they were stopped and taken at gunpoint. The Associated Press reported that the tribesmen left a number of other tourists riding in the same bus behind and took the four. This is the latest kidnapping in Sinai. Two American female tourists were also taken briefly last week along with their Egyptian guide, but were released shortly after and they reported they were treated “nicely” by their captors, being served tea and dried fruit. Tensions in the Sinai Peninsula are rising as Bedouin groups in the area demand their rights be upheld and have been calling for the release of a number of tribespersons arrested during the era of ousted President Hosni Mubarak.
