Washington (dpa) – United States Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was to begin talks Tuesday in China against a backdrop of global economic problems and growing worries about Iran's nuclear program. Discussions about increasing pressure on Iran as well as economic issues are on the agenda, his office said. Measures aimed at Iran's central bank, which processes Iran's income from oil exports, are also to be discussed. Geithner is to meet with Vice Premier Wang Qishan on Tuesday in Beijing and with Premier Wen Jiabao on Wednesday. The discussions are also likely to include complaints that China's undervalued currency erodes the US manufacturing sector. Geithner is expected to travel to Japan on Thursday to meet with Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and Finance Minister Jun Azumi.
