CAIRO: One of Africa's leading mobile telecom network providers, MTN, has released a report announcing that across its 22 operations, their customer base exceeded 158 million by the end of the third quarter this year. The increase from the second quarter was 4.1 percent. By the end of the second quarter, the subscription base stood at 158.59 million. MTN has roughly 9,9 million subscribers in Ghana at the end of the third quarter, which represents almost 50 percent of the Ghana market. “Ghana continued to show good growth and increased its subscriber base by 3.4 percent to more than 9.89 million, maintaining its leadership position,” the report said. MTN Ghana CEO, Michael Ikpoki, believes the Ghana market will cross 10 million by the end of the month. The West and Central Africa (WECA) region contributes to 44 percent of MTN's total subscribers. Other regions like South and East Africa (SEA) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) contribute 23 and 33 percent respectively. BM
