CAIRO: The sons of Mohamed Morsy, head of the Freedom and Justice party, a Muslim Brotherhood affiliated political party, were arrested on Friday after scuffles with a traffic policemen in Zaqazeeq, in the Delta region, north of Cairo. The two men, 30- and 20-years-old, are accused of assaulting the police officer and taken to a local police station for investigation. The two men say the police officer assaulted them, causing some injuries and used foul language against them in front of their family members, who were accompanying them in the car. The family car was stopped at a traffic checkpoint on Friday and the officer asked the driver for the license and registration. The men say an argument erupted after the officer used “bad language” against the men and used force against them. The officer, on the other hand, reportedly said the two Morsy brothers assaulted him and his accompanying force could verify the incident. State-owned media reported the news from the officer's perspective and said the two men “have beaten and assaulted the officer.” The FJP issued a statement verifying the story of the two men, saying that they “were assaulted by the officer and that the car was targeted by the traffic force” and have called it a “politically driven move.” BM
