Educational training of teachers and students on information technology will remain a part of Intel Corporation's efforts in Kenya, the country's director said at a workshop on Thursday. The company said it would continue its support of the Ministry of Education's efforts to push IT in the classroom. According to a statement from Intel in Kenya, the company has already chosen 1,050 schools across the nation and five students will receive the training. Since the project began in November 2007, some 3,500 teachers have benefited from the program. Intel Kenya Country Manager Omar Bajaber said that the company has invested over one billion shillings with the aim of making “ICT a tool for learning in order to teach people to use the computers.” He added that the training program has so far been successful in more than sixty countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, South Africa and Kenya.
