CAIRO: Former Assistant Foreign Minister Abdallah al-Ashaal intends to found a new political party, the Free Egypt Party, according to MENA, Egypt's official news agency. An official announcement will be made at a press conference in Cairo this week, al-Ashaal said. He added that the party is set to give the 25 January youth political representation, and will participate in the next parliamentary and presidential elections. He also said he intends to run in the presidential elections. He said his party will implement its ideas through increasing financial resources, achieving social justice and attracting competent Egyptians overseas to work in Egypt, and would translate the objectives of the revolution into action. The party is also aiming at the establishment of a modern state following the downfall of the oppressive and unjust state, and a state that is based on the principles of democracy and freedom. He added that under the party program Egypt should restore its place in the Arab and Islamic worlds and urged all Egyptians to join the party. BM
