Presented in a total of 17 categories, including European Film, Director, Actress and Actor, the 25th European Film Awards will go to Malta on 1 December 2012 to honour the greatest achievements in European cinema. Leading the field is LOVE , Michael Haneke's moving French language kammerspiel about an elderly couple with six nominations. It is followed by two films with five nominations each: Thomas Vinterberg's Danish drama THE HUNT about a man accused of child molestationand Steve McQueen's drama SHAME about a man's sex addiction. The remaining three films nominated for European Film are German political drama BARBARA by Christian Petzold, the Shakespeare adaptation set in an Italian prison CAESAR MUST DIE by Italian veteran filmmaker brothers Paolo & Vittorio Taviani and the international comedy hit from France, UNTOUCHABLE by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano. The European Film Academy's honorary awards will be presented to Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci (European Film academy Lifetime Achievement Award) and British actress Dame Helen Mirren (European Achievement in World Cinema 2012).
