MB promises response to Ramadan TV series
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 12 - 07 - 2010

The son of Hassan el-Banna, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood movement, said he has received many offers from Egypt and abroad to produce an international movie looking at the history of the organization.
Saif al-Islam el-Banna said all Brotherhood members will stand against the “unjustified attack” they saw in the TV series “el-Gamaa” (The Group), written by Wahid Hamed, which is set to screen during the month of Ramadan.
“Hamed's attempts to distort the image of el-Banna [senior] enraged Brotherhood supporters around the world,” el-Banna junior said.
The Brotherhood's media bureau in Alexandria said it is preparing a number of documentaries focusing on the group's history since the time of its establishment in 1928, as means of confronting the Ramadan series.
El-Banna declined to name the potential foreign sources interested in funding an international movie on the Brotherhood.
Mohamed Abdel Fattah, a younger member of the Brotherhood, said Hamed's series shows the Brotherhood as adopting a violent doctrine. He said that copies of any documentaries produced by the Brotherhood will be delivered to Hamed so that he can learn about the true history of the movement.
